The Purchase
In 2010, BST Global, together with one of its esteemed partners, acquired an old and neglected industrial property located at 2 Champagne Street in Toronto, with a strategic vision to reinvent the building. In-depth research, evaluation, and concept testing at another location revealed that this property was ideal for a medical and health center, thanks to its excellent transportation access, a developing residential area, ample parking spaces, and proximity to North York General Hospital (the hospital’s outpatient clinic is now located right within the center). The team developed a customized concept for the center.
The building has a rich history. Until the early 1990s, 2 Champagne Street was the site of Canada Dry’s bottling plant. The company, famous for its ginger ale, had a significant presence at this location for many years. In fact, the “Champagne” address is a tribute to the company’s history, as the word “Champagne” refers to the effervescent nature of Canada Dry’s beverages, as well as its status as the “champagne of ginger ale.” We decided to name the building “Champagne Centre” as a way to honor its history.

The Project
The construction and design team at BST Global collaborated with our strategic partner, specializing in the medical field, to begin a rebranding project that included comprehensive renovations both inside the building and on its exterior, as well as the installation of advanced and supporting medical infrastructure.

The Result
Today, Champagne Centre is a well-known building in the city of Toronto, offering local and distant residents a revolutionary center for health, wellness, and lifestyle, serving as a comprehensive medical facility. The center, spanning over 270,000 Sq Ft, includes a variety of healthcare services, a multi-disciplinary sports complex, retail stores related to wellness, and many professional services that provide daily value to individuals and give them quicker access to the care they need.
Future plans for the center include the development of two additional buildings, which will include 350 rooms designed for short- and long-term stays for patients awaiting treatments or in need of recovery and rehabilitation.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of excellence. Our ongoing investment strategy focuses on continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring that Champagne Centre remains at the forefront of the healthcare industry. By adapting to the changing needs of the residents and their patients, we aim to continue growing and establish the property’s status as a leading medical center.
